A whole number - for example, 3. Integers may
be positive or negative; 0 is an integer, and
is often considered positive. Formally,
integers are members of the set Z =... -3,
-2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3,.... Fractions, such as
1/2 and 0.35, are known as non-integral
numbers (`not integers').
